INSTALLATION GUIDES
Important fitting information for Mission 4x4 externally mounted products. Please read this installation guide carefully before fitting your product.
PRODUCTS COVERED BY THIS GUIDE
This installation guide applies to the following Mission 4x4 externally mounted table systems:
• Maxtrax Table – 75 & 78 Series Troopy
• Multifunction Table – 78 Series Troopy
• Side-Mounted Table – 76 Series LandCruiser
Please read this information carefully before drilling or permanently mounting any of these products to your vehicle.
RECOMMENDED MOUNTING METHOD
Mission 4x4’s recommended mounting method for these three table systems is through-bolting with panel washers wherever access to the inside of the vehicle body panel is available.
Panel washers help distribute the load over a larger area of the vehicle body and provide a strong and secure mounting point.
If your vehicle does not have an interior fit-out, or you otherwise have access to the inside of the body panel, Mission 4x4 highly recommends the through-bolt and panel-washer mounting method.
If your vehicle has an existing interior fit-out and access to the inside body panel is not possible, please contact Mission 4x4 before installation to discuss the alternative mounting option outlined below.
MOUNTING HARDWARE
Mission 4x4 supplies mounting hardware for its externally mounted table systems. Hardware may vary depending on the particular table and application.
The table mounting brackets use 5 mm mounting holes as the standard configuration.
Mission 4x4 can also supply 6 mm bolts and panel washers as an alternative heavier-duty mounting option.
If 6 mm bolts are being used, any 5 mm mounting holes in the table brackets must be carefully enlarged to suit the 6 mm bolts before installation.
When through-bolting, panel washers should be fitted to the inside of the vehicle body to help spread the load over a larger surface area.
Where sound deadening, insulation, carpet or other compressible material is present around the mounting point, the panel washer and mounting hardware should be secured against a solid and suitable mounting surface. Do not rely on compressible material between the panel washer and vehicle body to support the mounting load.
ALTERNATIVE AIRCRAFT-GRADE RIVET MOUNTING OPTION
Mission 4x4 previously supplied high-strength aircraft-grade rivets as the standard mounting method for these table systems.
After several years of real-world use, including extensive off-road and corrugated-road conditions, Mission 4x4 has updated its recommended installation method to through-bolting with panel washers for improved load distribution and security.
Aircraft-grade rivets are therefore not supplied as standard with the table.
If your vehicle has an existing interior fit-out and access to the inside body panel is not possible, an aircraft-grade rivet mounting kit may be available by request after consultation with Mission 4x4.
Correct installation of these rivets is critical. Their performance depends on correct hole preparation, installation technique, suitable mounting points and the use of appropriate professional rivet installation equipment.
Where the aircraft-grade rivet mounting option is selected, the installer is responsible for ensuring the rivets are correctly installed and that the vehicle body and mounting points are suitable for the intended load.
If you are unsure which mounting method is suitable for your vehicle, contact Mission 4x4 before drilling or commencing installation.
POSITIONING THE TABLE
Correct positioning is important for the Maxtrax Table, Multifunction Table and 76 Series Side-Mounted Table.
Before drilling any holes:
• Position the table on the vehicle and check its location.
• Check that the table sits correctly and operates freely.
• Check door, fuel-filler, body and accessory clearances.
• Confirm all mounting-point locations.
• Check behind the body panel before drilling.
• Ensure there are no electrical cables, fuel components, trim or other components behind the proposed mounting points.
Do not permanently drill or mount the table until you are satisfied with its position and all clearances.
IMPORTANT – LOAD & VEHICLE BODY
Mission 4x4 externally mounted tables may carry additional weight during use, including recovery boards and other equipment.
The installer and vehicle owner must consider the total load being carried, particularly when the vehicle is being used off-road or on heavily corrugated roads.
Corrugations and off-road driving can generate significantly greater dynamic loads at the mounting points than the stationary weight of the table and equipment alone.
The installer must ensure that the mounting method, hardware, panel washers and vehicle body are suitable for the intended application and load.
Avoid unnecessary overloading of the table or mounting system.
The condition, age, previous modifications and construction of individual vehicle bodies can vary. Mission 4x4 cannot assess or verify these factors when installation is carried out outside our workshop.
IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTICE
Mission 4x4 installation instructions, photographs and YouTube videos are provided as a general fitting guide only.
These materials are intended to assist with the recommended positioning and mounting method for the Maxtrax Table, Multifunction Table and 76 Series Side-Mounted Table.
When installation is carried out outside the Mission 4x4 workshop, Mission 4x4 cannot inspect or verify the workmanship, tools used, mounting hardware, reinforcement, positioning, installation technique or condition of the vehicle body.
The person carrying out the installation is responsible for ensuring that the product is correctly and securely fitted and that the selected mounting method is appropriate for the particular vehicle and intended load.
Following a Mission 4x4 written installation guide, photograph or YouTube video does not mean that Mission 4x4 has inspected, approved or verified an installation carried out by another person.
Mission 4x4 cannot accept responsibility for vehicle damage, including cracking, deformation or metal fatigue, resulting from incorrect, inadequate or improperly carried out installation.
If you are unsure about the positioning, mounting hardware or installation method, please contact Mission 4x4 before drilling or permanently mounting the product.
For maximum security, installation by Mission 4x4 or a suitably experienced installer is recommended.
